Can you repair rust?

It is not right to assume rust can be repaired. If you can see rust on the outside, more often than not, there is rust on the other side of the metal that you can’t see. Some shops will repair the rust that you can see on the outside, but the rust on the inner metal is still there. That rust will eventually start to bleed through on the outer metal and the rust returns.

Can you match my paint color?

All paint colors are unique. Even cars that come off the same production line, with the same paint lot number will eventually become unique to one another. Factors such as sun, snow, rain, and other factors are situations unique to each individual car, therefore the paint of the car becomes unique, so no two colors are the same. Technology now exists using spectroscopy to provide perfect color matching. In addition to that auto manufacturers publish detailed information about their paints and paint swatches are provided for matching. In addition to the swatches that match the original color, swatches are also provided to show the minor color shifts over time providing some options to find you the best match whether your car is fresh off the assembly line, or a little more seasoned.

The time required for a repair is based on several factors. Complexity and parts availability are usually the biggest factors in determining the length time required for a repair. Winter months tend to have longer lead times as well given the nature of driving in Rochester during those months. When coming in for an estimate, a timeline would be part of the estimate.

Although it is not necessary to call and schedule an appointment, it is best to schedule one to ensure that we are ready for you when you come. As there are many factors involved in auto repair, estimates will never be given over the phone. Estimating is both art and science which precludes it from being a function that can be done over the phone.

Do we have to use the Repair Facility suggested by our Insurance Company?

You have the right to use the repair facility of your choosing. Insurance companies have relationships with repair facilities and will recommend that you use their relationship. That is only a recommendation and not a directive. If an insurance company directs you to use “their” facility, that is a violation known as “steering”. If you are comfortable with their recommendation, use it. If you are not, you have the right to use any repair facility you are comfortable with.
